University of California unionized doctors strike, 2015
Apr 9, 2015 – Apr 13, 2015 (4 days)
Unionized doctors from all 10 University of California campuses went on strike from April 9 to April 14, demanding the university to bargain with the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD) according to standard and legal labor practices. Participants characterized it as the longest doctor strike against a U.S. employer in 25 years. The strikes were staggered across the UC campuses, with the Northern California campuses striking for the first four days and the Southern California campuses striking for the last four days. According to the union, the strike opposed unfair labor practices and the lack of transparency on chancellor salaries, which recently were increased while student health centers remained underfunded.
